12:50 am - New 70s glam rock club night in London!

Suffragette City is a brand new night playing lashings ofglittering glam rock hits, junk shop rarities, and a dollop of strutting, snarling, proto-punk.

Join Heidi Heelz (GlamRacket, Dice Club, Proxy Music), Sonic Medusa (GlamRacket, Life's A Gas, The Lexington), Tim Purr (GlamRacket, Purr Records) and Denim Disco as they play the likes of:

Bowie - Sparks - New York Dolls - Richard Hell & The Voidoids - Roxy Musix - T. Rex - Slade - Iggy Pop - Joan Jett - Queen - Brett Smiley - Lou Reed - Suzi Quatro - T
he Sweet - Mick Ronson - Jobriath and many, many more...

The party takes place in the underground basement of Cakey Muto (a few minutes walk from Homerton overground, which is a 10 minute ride form HIghbury & Islington). So as well as being able to fortify yourselves with (very reasonably priced) booze, you can also buy cakes! Coffee! Alcoholic milkshakes!

Entry is a ridiculously low 2 quid, or just ONE POUND if you come dressed in your finest vintage glam rock gear!

Facebook event is over here:

4:59 pm - Super London Glam Night!

Blimey, this place is quiet these days! Any London-based glam kids still here? There's a rather smashing monthly glitter night in Islington called GlamRacket, and they're having a BOWIE SPECIAL TONIGHT, to celebrate the Dame's 65th birthday this weekend. Thought you lot would like to know... https://www.facebook.com/events/256430431082663/

1:26 am - Icon Post; Marc Bolan and Tyrannosaurus Rex/T.Rex (71)

Hi, new member here! I've been trying to get myself back into making icons, so I started with some images of the beautiful Marc Bolan. Used PSP9, and I found the images across the internet (mostly on Facebook groups though). Enjoy :)

Hoepfully this is allowed.

I've got two tickets for the New York Dolls on February 23rd in Chicago that I can no longer attend. I'm trying to sell them at face value ($30 each, which is less than what I paid) or best offer. From what I understand, the show is sold out. So if you want these tickets or know someone who might be interested, please let me know.

First time poster here.

I was going back through the archives and noted a couple of instances of people declaring that the group was dying, so I decided to do my bit with an attempt at conversation starting.

Q- What's the weirdest use of a glam song that you've seen?

For example, in Australia, T. Rex's 'I Love To Boogie' was used to advertise lamb on TV. The ad had butchers dancing around to the song.

I hope other members will rise to the occasion and post.

2:47 pm - Want a community?

This is the maintainer, here. Would someone like to take this community over? I think "glamlovers" is a pretty sweet name, and I'm sure someone could do something with it... Anyhoo. If I don't get a response in a few days I'm going to be getting rid of her. Ta, dears!

Hi, this is my first time posting here.

I have been interested in glam for a long time, and decided to try and make a Ziggy icon. I have just started to make icons, so it is not very good. But I thought that i'd share it here anyway.

The new RED INVASION cd "I'm Not Too Young to Die" hits stores today in the US!! YESS! (www.myspace.com/redinvasion)

Go to Newbury Comics, go to Best Buy, and buy it now. These guys need money so that they can travel and corrupt people all over the country. If you can't buy it, go in the store and ask for it anyway. Then go find it and lust over it.

Anyone who wants to support the local music scene and likes good old fashioned rock & roll should check out this local punk band. They play around Boston often and they're a GREAT show live. And ladies, they wear tight pants.

Some Reviews:

"I'm guessing Red Invasion are gonna develop into a dangerous, druggy, virgin-killing juggernaut of beastly punk-sleaze sometime soon, so check 'em out while their young and desperate, and prepare yourself for the shitstorm to come." -sleazegrinder

"You'll have a hard time finding a better young band anywhere in the country right now than Red Invasion." -razorcake

"This is a must-have CD, seriously, everyone needs to go out and get this right now. Give them money so they can get their asses on the road and tour and rock your asses off in person!" -amp

"'Disconnected' reeks of attitude. Slashing guitars accompanied perfectly by a percolating bass/drums tandem and insolent vocals. The real deal." -suburban voice

"The best Dead Boys cop that I have heard in a long time. Fans of Black Halos and others of that ilk will love this!" -eric law

"This is a real good debut full-length from a young band with a lot of promise." -the noise

"To claim that they deftly mirror the sounds of old greats like the Neighborhoods, La Peste, Nervous Eaters or the Real Kids is no generous exaggeration. . . Within the band’s methodical design is a catchy comprisal attractive to anyone who deserves to buy any punk record." -jimmy reject

"Red Invasion's full-length debut is a great album to listen to while you're boning your lady from behind. It's just got that feel, ya know?" -now wave

To find out more, please click the link!!! It doesn't hurt to just take 5 minutes out of your time to look. Think of those poor people and what it would mean to them, and take the time to read more.
